The Axe 3-Point Stone Check
Before any slab leaves our workshop, we carry out our Axe 3-Point Stone Check. Natural stone varies between quarry batches in ways that matter on a finished kitchen run.
Point 1: Batch Verification
Every slab is uncrated and checked against its batch reference at the warehouse. Stone from different production runs is never combined in a single installation.
Point 2: Full Slab Inspection
Each slab is assessed under adequate lighting for surface integrity, background colour consistency, edge condition, and material character. A sample chip gives a general impression; only the full slab tells you what is actually going into the kitchen.
Point 3: Sequential Dry Lay
All slabs are laid out in order before cutting begins to confirm that grain direction, veining pattern, and background tone read consistently across the full installation.

Most worktop installations are completed within five to eight working days from templating. Digital templating takes one to two hours on site, fabrication at our workshop typically runs to five to seven working days, and installation is usually completed in a single day for a standard kitchen.
Do you offer stone restoration as well as new installations?
Yes, and in many cases restoration is a more cost-effective solution than full replacement. We carry out diamond grinding, honing, polishing, crack repair, and resealing for marble floors, granite worktops, limestone fireplaces, slate patios, and period stone architectural features.
