Granite is harder and denser than most other worktop materials, and that hardness means that installation errors are difficult to correct after the fact. A seam that sits slightly proud, a cut out that is fractionally out of position, or a slab run where batch variations have been ignored will be visible every day for the lifetime of the kitchen. After 25 years working with natural stone, Kamil knows exactly where granite installations go wrong, and our process is designed to prevent every one of those failure points.

Granite seams require a different approach to joins in engineered stone. Because natural granite has mineral variation across the slab, a join that does not account for the grain direction and mineral pattern on both sides will always read as a discontinuity, even if the physical joint is tight. Installers who treat granite seams the same way they treat quartz seams consistently produce results that look wrong, regardless of how neat the bonding is.

At Axe Granite, seam positions are planned during the templating stage, with the mineral pattern and grain direction of the slab assessed before any cut is made. Mating edges are planed to a true surface before adhesive is applied, and professional suction clamps hold both sections in precise alignment during bonding with colour matched two-part epoxy. The cured joint is dressed flush with the surrounding stone before we leave site.

We also position every seam over a solid cabinet carcass frame rather than across an unsupported span. On a dense, heavy material like natural granite, a join over empty space is a structural liability. Positioning it correctly over framing distributes the load and gives the joint the stable base it needs to hold indefinitely.

An installer who does not verify batch consistency before fabrication risks delivering a kitchen where slabs from different batches sit alongside each other with a visible tonal mismatch that is impossible to correct after installation.

Step 5: Professional Installation, Sealing, and Aftercare

Our stonemasons deliver and install your granite worktops on site. Stone seams are aligned carefully, joints are bonded with colour matched adhesive, and all sections are secured. We apply a professional grade stone sealant to every surface. Before we leave, we walk you through granite maintenance and ongoing care so you know how to protect your worktops and when to reseal them.
